Tim Schofield is an experienced attorney, advisor, and advocate. He has extensive experience representing clients in state and federal court, in business and real estate transactions, and before administrative agencies and municipal boards. As an entrepreneur and small business owner, Tim understands the challenges faced by his clients and the importance of building long-term professional relationships. Tim serves as a strategic advisor and personal confidant for his clients to help them resolve disputes, develop projects, manage assets, and grow their businesses.
Tim is a seasoned trial attorney who has litigated numerous business cases, property management disputes, zoning appeals, real estate claims, and banking matters. His reported cases include: Clark v. Leisure Woods Estates, Inc., 89 Mass.App.Ct. 87 (Massachusetts Appeals Court, 2016); Stigum v. Johnson, 2013 WL773069 (Massachusetts Land Court, 2013); 90 Exchange, LLC v. Mayo Group Development, LLC , 2009 WL3818847 (Massachusetts Land Court, 2009); United Multifamily v. Mayo Eight, LLC, 72 Mass.App.Ct. 1102 (Massachusetts Appeals Court, 2008); Sarkis v. Grey2k, 21 Mass.L.Rptr. 173 (Superior Court, 2006); Bingham v. City Council of Fitchburg, 52 Mass.App.Ct. 566 (Massachusetts Appeals Court, 2001); and Bahnan v. Continental Insurance, 216 F.3d 150 (1st Circuit Court of Appeals, 2000).
Tim also represents developers, owners, property managers, condominium associations, and landlords in the development, management, and operation of residential and commercial properties. He understands the complexities of owning and operating residential and commercial properties and he has the skills and experience to help his clients to protect their interests and maximize their investments. Tim also represents individuals and companies in the formation, operation, purchase, and sale of businesses of all types. Tim takes great pride in helping businesses to grow and thrive.

Tim graduated magna cum laude from Boston College Law School in 1999 and magna cum laude from the University of New Hampshire in 1993. He is a veteran of the United States Army and served in Saudi Arabia during the Persian Gulf War. From 1993-1995, he worked on Capitol Hill as an aide to Congressman Richard Swett (D-NH). Tim has taught Legal Writing at Boston University Law School and Introduction to Lawyering and Professional Responsibility at Boston College Law School.
Prior to forming his own law firm in 2004, Tim was a trial lawyer with the Boston law firms of Goulston & Storrs and Sally & Fitch. He is also an active community leader and has served on the Board of Massachusetts Asian Pacific Islanders for Health, Presentation School Foundation, and the Advisory Board of the YMCA.

- Represented clients in a five-day trial in Dukes County Superior Court concerning the purchase and sale of a property on Martha's Vineyard.
- Representing clients in an adverse possession case in the Massachusetts Land Court concerning a disputed driveway in Dorchester.
- Representing clients in Suffolk County Superior Court in an appeal of a special permit granted by the Boston Zoning Board of Appeals.
- Following a six-day jury trial in the Massachusetts Land Court, Tim obtained judgment in favor of our client to quiet her title in real property.
- Tim obtained summary judgment for our client in Massachusetts Land Court on the grounds that an abutter who appealed a Special Permit granted to our client lacked standing to appeal.
- In a case in Middlesex County Superior Court concerning the purchase and development of real estate, Tim filed a successful Special Motion to Dismiss securing dismissal of all claims against our client, dissolution of a lis pendens, and recovery of all legal fees and costs on the grounds that the alleged contract failed to satisfy the Statute of Frauds.
- In a broker dispute in Norfolk Superior Court, Tim obtained summary judgment for our client on the grounds that the listing agreement lacked consideration because the broker did not agree to undertake an specific actions. Tim successfully defended this victory before the Massachusetts Court of Appeals.
- Tim represented a property owner in Worcester County Superior Court in a multi-million dollar dispute over a long-term commercial lease and obtained a $12 million dollar lien that enabled us to negotiate a favorable resolution for our client.
- In a case in Essex County Superior Court concerning the dissolution of a limited liability company, Tim successfully obtained dismissal of all claims against our client, who held a minority stake in the LLC.
- In a case filed against our client in California, Tim successfully argued that the case should be dismissed because the court lacked personal jurisdiction over our client, who is the trustee of a Massachusetts trust.
